Oceans Day is celebrated on 8th June. The global campaign is rising for the 2021 World Oceans Day to call on world leaders to conserve 30 percent of our blue planet by 2030.
At the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the Government of Canada suggested that a World Oceans Day be set. In December 2008, the United Nations formally recognized 8th June as World Oceans Day.
The day is organized by The Ocean Project, an international environmental not-for-profit organization.
History Of World Oceans Day
The administration of Canada had proposed the idea of World Ocean Day at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.
