When is World Emoji Day?

World Emoji Day is observed on July 17 every year so, in 2021 also this happy emoji day will be celebrated on 17th July 2021. The day encourages us to send one-of-a-kind messages using emojis.

Why We Celebrate World Emoji Day?

Shigetaka Kurita coined emoji, a Japanese phrase that loosely translates to “image word,” in 1990. Kurita created these graphic words as a feature on pagers for the Japanese telecom company NTT Docomo to make them more interesting to teenagers.

When the iPhone first came out in 2007, it came with an emoji keyboard to appeal to the Japanese market. When American users figured out how to use the emoji keyboard, it became an instant hit.

Each year, new emojis are created. All emoji updates are tracked by emojipedia.org across all platforms and operating systems. More than 1800 emojis are available, covering a wide range of topics. Emojis cover a wide range of topics, including transportation, food, and a variety of wild and domesticated animals, as well as social media platforms, weather, and body functions.

Every year, the Unicode Consortium publishes and approves a list of emojis. When emojis are released, mobile operating systems such as Android and iOS make them available on their respective platforms.

Let us explain that the Unicode consortium has members who vote and offer their thoughts on emojis in order to make them official. Netflix, Apple, Facebook, Google, Tinder, and other companies are among the members.

Facebook released the top three emojis used by people on the network based on their age groups, stating that Gen Zs, who are 18 to 24 years old and use Facebook, used the heart emoji the most, followed by the laughing emoji, and finally the thanks or prayer emoji.

The praying emoji, crying emoji, thumbs up emoji, ROFL (or tilted laughing) emoji, heart eyes emoji, begging face emoji, smile emoji, fire emoji, and finally the grinning emoji with happy eyes were the most popular emojis on Twitter during this time.
