The Tampa Bay Automobile Museum displays historic automobiles. The museum’s unique collection of vintage cars and vehicles demonstrate the outstanding creativity and imagination in their history and engineering.
The museum includes pioneering front-wheel drive and rear engine cars from the 1920s and 1930s. The vehicles were chosen based on the engineering achievements that made them an essential part of the evolution of the automobile.
The collection includes:

- Tatra rear-engine cars
- Rear-engine Mercedes-Benz
- Citroën cars
- The vehicle created by French engineer Émile Claveau
- A full-scale working replica of the first self-propelled mechanical vehicle, the Fardier (wheeled cart) of Nicolas-Joseph Cugno, 1770

Highlights of the Tampa Bay Automobile Museum
- SALMSON S4E convertible, 1950, French – the engine is made of aluminum with OHC, an electromechanical Cotal gearbox, and torque bars for the independent front suspension
- DKW MEISTER KLASSE, 1939, Germany – exported to the United States before the war, the lightweight wooden body was inexpensive to manufacture
- STOEWER V8 GREIF, 1934, Germany – features an aluminum V8 engine block, only four have survived, and this is the only one with the aluminum engine
- DETRA, 1928, Germany – a Czech design assembled in Germany with new technologies: an air-cooled engine and a simplified chassis composed of a central tube and an independent suspension
- CITROËN 7CV, 1937, France – the first new front-wheel-drive car made available to the public by Citroen
- FARDIER DE CUGNOT, 1770, France – Nicholas-Joseph Cugnot ‘s steam-powered Fardier (wheeled cart) was the first self-propelled vehicle in the world
