This Stegosaurus Stenops is the most complete skeleton ever found and represents a giant, slow-moving plant-eater, which defended itself from predators like with its powerful spiked tail. The bony plates along its back were embedded in the skin and not attached to its skeleton. Stegosaurus had a small head, and its brain was around the size of a baby’s hand.
Stegosaurus is a genus of herbivorous thyreophoran dinosaur. Fossils dating from the Late Jurassic period, between 155 and 150 million years ago, have been found in the western United States and Portugal. Of the species that have been classified and universally recognized are S. stenops, S. ungulatus, and S. sulcatus.
This skeleton is unique because it is complete, and the bones have been preserved in three dimensions instead of being squashed over time, giving us an exact view of how the Stegosaurus looked.
