Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House is a historic building and former residential quarters of Saeed bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, a former ruler of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The building remained the residence of Sheikh Saeed Al Makhtoum until his death in 1958. The site is also the birthplace of his sons and grandsons. The Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House is one of the oldest buildings in the city and an essential piece of Dubai’s history.
Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum was the ruler of Dubai from 1912 to 1958, and grandfather of the present ruler, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The residential quarters were established around 1896 as the seat of the Al Maktoum family. The building is now a museum that contains artifacts and images of the old town of Dubai. The house was built using coral treated with lime and plaster, the standard building materials of the time. The coral gives the whole building a pink hue.
