Oslo Museums
Oslo is the capital and the most populous city in Norway. Founded in 1040, the city was elevated to a bishopric in 1070 and a capital of Norway around 1300. After being destroyed by a fire in 1624, the city was moved closer to the Akershus Fortress and renamed Christiania in the king’s honour. Following a spelling reform, from 1877 it was known as Kristiania; and in 1925, its original Norwegian name of Oslo was restored.
Oslo is the economic and governmental centre of Norway and with a long and rich history, Oslo has many world-class museums.
