National Historical Museum, Athens
The National Historical Museum is a historical museum in Athens. Founded in 1882, it is located in the Old Parliament House, which housed the Hellenic Parliament from 1875 until 1932. The Museum’s collection has historical items about the period from the capture of Constantinople by the Ottomans in 1453 to the Second World War.
The period of the Greek Revolution and the subsequent establishment of the modern Greek state is explained with historical exhibits. The exhibits include weapons, memorabilia from historical figures, historical paintings, manuscripts, as well as a collection of traditional Greek costumes.
