The NASCAR Hall of Fame honors drivers of exceptional skill in driving, also crew chiefs and owners, broadcasters, and other significant contributors to the competition.
The Hall of Fame opened with the inaugural class inducted the day following the 2010 NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race.
The Selection Process includes:
- Eligibility – all nominees must have been active in NASCAR for a minimum number of specified years
- Nominations – a 20-member nominating committee chooses nominees from those who are eligible
- Induction – votes are cast by a voting committee consisting of the nominating committee, media representatives, manufacturers, retired drivers, retired owners, retired crew chiefs, the reigning champion, and the top fan vote
A total of 58 individuals have been inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
In addition to the Hall of Fame, the NASCAR Plaza offices serve as the home of Hall of Fame-related offices, NASCAR Digital Media, licensing division, as well as NASCAR video game licensee.
Highlights of the NASCAR Hall of Fame
- High Octane Theater – a screening room with videos including a primer video
- Glory Road Exhibit – a 33-degree banked ramp featuring 18 cars and saluting 46 past and current tracks
- Hall of Honor – a 360-degree wall with the honorees each with their own exhibit
- Transporter and Racecar Simulators – simulators are available
- Inside NASCAR – a simulation of a week in a NASCAR team, from race prep through inspection, practice, time trials, and the race
- Heritage Speedway – the seven-decade history of NASCAR is presented with historical artifacts
