Masterpieces of The Louvre Museum
The Louvre opened in 1793, during the French Revolution, with an exhibition of 537 paintings. The majority of the works being confiscated royal and church property. Today the museum’s collection is approximately 38,000 objects from prehistory to the 21st century.
