The Jewish Museum of Australia, in Melbourne, aims to “explore and share the Jewish experience in Australia.” The museum holds over 20,000 objects, consisting of objects of ritual, religious, historical, cultural, social, and artistic significance, encompassing Jewish life and history.
The Museum was established in 1977 and opened its new facility in 1995. The core of its collection is displayed across four permanent exhibition areas.
The Museum also has an archives collections that include personal, family, and business archives which document life in Europe and the migration and settlement processes in Australia.
