The Jakarta History Museum is located in the Old Town of Jakarta. The museum’s main building was the old City Hall of Batavia constructed in 1710.
It became the Jakarta History Museum in 1974, and its collection includes objects from the prehistory of the founding of Jayakarta, the Dutch colonization period, and Indonesia’s Independence.
Jakarta History Museum has a collection that includes objects from the Dutch East Indies Company, historic maps, paintings, ceramics, furniture, and archaeological artifacts from the prehistoric era.
The collections are divided into several rooms such as:
- Prehistoric Jakarta Room
- Tarumanegara Room
- Jayakarta Room
- Fatahillah Room
- Sultan Agung Room
- MH Thamrin Room.
