The Dubai Museum is located in the Al Fahidi Fort (Arabic: حصن الفهيدي), which was built in 1787 and is the oldest existing building in Dubai. The museum aims to present the authentic traditional way of life in the Emirate of Dubai.
After entering the fort and seeing its various exhibits and displays, there is a range of galleries, which display the culture of the region, especially in the 1800s. It includes local artifacts as well as African and Asian artifacts from countries that traded with Dubai.
The Archaeological collections include displays from a site in Al Qusais that goes back to 3000 BC.
