Danish Language
Danish is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people in Denmark, Greenland, and northern Germany. Danish-speaking communities can also be found around the world due to immigration.
Danish is a descendant of Old Norse, the Germanic peoples’ common language who lived in Scandinavia during the Viking Era.
With the Protestant Reformation and the introduction of printing, a standard language was developed based on the educated Copenhagen dialect, which spread through use in the education system and administration.
