Philly DJ PHSH aka Matthew Law put together the Official Roots Picnic 2014 Mixtape brought to you by Okayplayer and Crooks & Castles. Remember to grab your tickets to the Roots Picnic for this Saturday, May 31st at Penn’s Landing.
As part of the 4th Annual Philly Tech Week at Sigma Sound Studios, the dynamic night featured interviews and presentations surrounding the theme of “The Future of Music & Technology” with the soundtrack provided by DJ Phsh from Illvibe Collective and DJ MICK who spun sets before in-between, and after the presentations.
Highlights included an insightful interview and audience Q&A with Kyle “KP” Reilly (Dat-Piff) by Philly Radio Station WXPN host and personality Bruce Warren, a presentation from MyChannel – the Philadelphia based content-sharing website on which users can create and share their customized channels and independently promote their brand, and an in-depth discussion hosted by media personality Quincy “Q-Deezy” Harris with Grouchy Greg from AllHipHop.com – a top internet destination for all things related to Hip-Hop culture.

For the 3rd straight year, Heineken hosted the ultimate DJ showcase to kick off the largest free concert in America, “The Roots 4th of July Jam”.
Party goers literally danced until the sun came up at the 3rd annual Philadelphia Sound Konnoisseurs aka PSK! Roots founder, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson threw the epic event on July 3rd with an all-star line up at Voyeur. The evening featured RJD2, Cash Money, Cosmo Baker, DJ Phsh, DJ Statik, Emynd & Bo Bliz and of course, Questlove.
Who cares if you’ve got work tomorrow? You should definitely be heading to Silk City this evening.
Tonight, Illvibe Collective and Heineken are bringing you REMIX BOUND with DJs Sonny James, lil’dave, Phillee Blunt, Skipmode, Panek and DJ PHSH. Make sure you get there early for the exclusive listening party for Illvibe Collective: All Together Now – The Remixes, from 9 pm – 10 pm. As always, Heineken will be quenching your thirst with free Heineken’s from 9 pm – 11 pm.
Don’t forget to show some major love to tonight’s host, MC Elixir, while you’re going crazy on the dance floor to live remixes, blends and mash-ups.
Sound good? See you at 9 pm.

Clash of the DJ titans at Voyeur… Photos by Tim Blackwell
Questlove brings back the heavyweights for another amazing 4th Of July holiday eve at Voyeur Nightclub… DJ Statik, DJ Phsh, Rich Medina, J-Rocc, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Drama and Questlove himself formed like Voltron and delivered the goods… which is probably a major understatement. Especially if you were there, sweating profusely from excessive dancing, pouring cold Heineken on your head, or partaking in free ice cold shots of Ciroc courtesy of DJ Drama. I’m pretty sure I did all three (from what I remember..), and somehow managed not to lose my camera in the process. Despite the hedonism that was PSK, I still manage to get some great shots. This easily beats losing an eye setting off shitty fireworks in your driveway. If you were one of the few people who weren’t there, check out the flicks now, and we’ll figure out your punishment later…
